Incapsula supports WebSocket communication by default and no extra change is needed in order to utilize it, apart from the Incapsula DNS changes.

WebSocket requests must be in accordance with RFC 6455 (http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6455 ) and in the following standard format:

Client request:
GET /chat HTTP/1.1
Host: server.example.com
Upgrade: websocket
Connection: Upgrade
Sec-WebSocket-Key: x3JJHMbDL1EzLkh9GBhXDw==
Sec-WebSocket-Protocol: chat, superchat
Sec-WebSocket-Version: 13
Origin: http://example.com
Server response:
HTTP/1.1 101 Switching Protocols
Upgrade: websocket
Connection: Upgrade
Sec-WebSocket-Accept: HSmrc0sMlYUkAGmm5OPpG2HaGWk=
Sec-WebSocket-Protocol: chat

In general, the Incapusla proxies identify the WebSocket communication and tunnel the traffic to the server/end-user as it is, so traffic is not inspected or accelerated in the process.
